PT Astra Otoparts Tbk together with PT Bhineka Ciptabahana Pura, and PT Kinaya Asia Arsitektura began the groundbreaking construction of a new Central Distribution Center (CDC) in the MM2100 Industrial area of Cibitung, West Java on Tuesday, September 4, 2018.
Director of Astra Otoparts Yusak Kristian said, with the new CDC which is targeted for completion in May 2019, it will have an Automatic Storage and Retrieval System or ASRS system. The automation system for storing and retrieving goods is expected to be a new milestone for Astra Otoparts in the go digital aspect and for the next level.
In contrast to the existing CDC, the new CDC which was built on a two-hectare land is expected to be able to accommodate more products to be distributed and will also be used to distribute products to major depots and dealers in western Indonesia, and directly to retailers in Jakarta and its surroundings.
In addition to storage warehouses and offices for employees, the new CDC will be equipped with renewal of storage systems with ASRS. This system was created with the aim of shortening the time in the process of storing and retrieving goods on stacked shelves such as those which will later be used on CDC Astra Otoparts.
This ASRS also facilitates the transfer of products with very high volume loads into or out of storage warehouses, reduces inventory levels, more accurate inventory tracking, and saves space usage.
