PT Astra Otoparts Tbk - Engineering Development Center Division won the 2018 Industry Technology Pilot Award (RINTEK) for Design Localization and Manufacturing of Wheeled Motorized Vehicle Seats given directly by the Indonesian Minister of Industry Airlangga Hartarto on July 24, 2018 at the Indonesian Ministry of Industry, Jakarta .
The RINTEK 2018 award is a biennial activity routinely held by the Industrial Research and Development Agency (BPPI) as an appreciation of the government to industries / companies that have resulted in technological innovations and accelerated implementation of Making Indonesia 4.0 to encourage the development of innovation ecosystems in the industrial sector.
Astra Otoparts through EDC which is one of the divisions specifically established to conduct product research and development that is equipped with product testing facilities and dies & mold manufacturing, has succeeded in producing technology pilot to support the process of improving national industrial technology capabilities and developing national industrial competitiveness with make Localization of Design and Manufacturing of Wheeled Motorized Vehicle Chairs 4.
As a local product research and development division, EDC succeeded in developing products as well as facilitating testing of 4-wheeled vehicle seats by involving IKMs to several Brand Holder Agents (APM), while APM mostly conducted research and product development at their respective licensors. In addition, innovations carried out by EDC can also have an impact on increasing engineer competence, increasing national industry competitiveness, increasing the value of the Domestic Content Level (TKDN) and good economic growth.
