KARAWANG: In celebration of its 51st anniversary, GS Astra introduced a series of strategic initiatives, including the launch of a new product for the big bike segment, a nationwide prize draw program as a form of customer appreciation, and strengthened engagement with its distribution network.
Carrying the theme “Closer with GS Astra,” the series of activities was held today (14/04) at PT GS Battery as part of GS Astra’s commitment to strengthening market share and delivering solutions tailored to customer needs.
PT Astra Otoparts Tbk (“Astra Otoparts”), as the sole distributor of GS Astra, offers a wide range of automotive batteries for both two-wheel and four-wheel vehicles. GS Astra has established itself as a market leader in Indonesia’s battery industry, supported by an extensive distribution network across the country. This position reflects customer trust built over more than five decades and reinforces the company’s commitment to continuously delivering innovations aligned with industry developments.
Director of Astra Otoparts, Martogi Siahaan, stated that the 51st anniversary of GS Astra serves as part of the company’s strategy to strengthen its position in the domestic market while capturing regional growth opportunities.
“We see strong growth potential in the two-wheeler segment, including the premium category, across Southeast Asia. In line with Astra Otoparts’ expansion into the Philippines, we continue to introduce products that meet evolving market demands, including for high-displacement motorcycles,” said Martogi.
As part of this strategy, GS Astra launched its latest motorcycle battery, GS GTZ-10 with a capacity of 9.1 Ah, specifically designed for big bikes such as the Honda CBR 1000, BMW S1000R, and Kawasaki H2. This product further strengthens GS Astra’s position as a trusted battery brand with a product lineup that caters to premium vehicle segments.
The GS GTZ-10 was initially developed for regional export markets and is now introduced to meet domestic demand in line with the growing big bike community in Indonesia.
The launch of GS GTZ-10 also aligns with the increasing trend of motorcycle usage in Southeast Asia. In the Philippines, for example, the two-wheeler market continues to grow, driven by rising interest in premium motorcycles. This creates opportunities for Astra Otoparts, through GS Astra, to provide high-performance battery solutions that support optimal performance for high-capacity motorcycles.
GS Astra offers several advantages, including high-performance copper terminal connectors, delivering 20% greater starting power and 16% lower internal resistance. These specifications are designed to provide more responsive engine starts and enhance riding comfort for premium motorcycle users.
In addition to the product launch, GS Astra also conducted the second batch draw of the “Gebyar Semarak 51 Years of GS Astra” program for the period of 1 October 2025 – 31 March 2026, as a form of appreciation for customers and sales partners.
In this draw, GS Astra offered 15 units of Honda BeAT Deluxe motorcycles each for lucky buyers and sellers of GS Astra batteries, along with one unit of Honda PCX 160 RoadSync as the grand prize. This program is part of the company’s effort to strengthen long-term relationships with customers and its distribution network.
The event series also included a retailer visit to the PT GS Battery plant in Karawang, providing an opportunity to observe the battery production process firsthand. This initiative aims to enhance the distribution network’s understanding of product quality standards while strengthening collaboration between GS Astra and its sales partners.
Through this series of initiatives, GS Astra reaffirms its commitment to growing together with customers and business partners, delivering product innovations, and strengthening trust in GS Astra’s quality in both the Indonesian and regional markets.
