JAKARTA: PT Velasto Indonesia (“Velasto Indonesia”), a subsidiary of PT Astra Otoparts Tbk (“Astra Otoparts”), has become a strategic partner of PT Prima Layanan Nasional Enjiniring (“PLN Enjiniring”), a subsidiary of PT PLN (Persero), in developing Indonesia’s first pole-mounted electric vehicle charging station (SPKLU).
The pole-mounted SPKLU at PLN ULP Belanti, Padang, West Sumatra, was inaugurated on August 17, 2025, marking the operation of 19 additional units across two provinces—18 units in West Sumatra and 1 unit in West Java.
As an initial phase, the collaboration between Velasto Indonesia and PLN Enjiniring will deliver 122 pole-mounted SPKLU units, consisting of 30 units in West Sumatra and 92 units in West Java. Moving forward, this initiative may be expanded on a larger scale to build a more evenly distributed charging infrastructure network, while strengthening the strategic contribution of both companies in accelerating the electric vehicle ecosystem.
A pole-mounted SPKLU is an EV charging station in which the charging unit and its components are installed directly on existing electricity poles. This eliminates the need for additional land, providing an efficient solution to accelerate the expansion of EV infrastructure in Indonesia.
All pole-mounted SPKLU units feature a practical, modern design built to high safety and quality standards, equipped with 7kW AC Charging technology. The facility is also integrated with the Internet of Things, enabling remote digital monitoring and control through PLN’s system. Customers can easily access the service via the PLN Mobile Super App—from locating a station and initiating charging to monitoring the charging process in real time.
