In commemoration of World Environment Day on 5 June 2026, PT GS Battery, a subsidiary of PT Astra Otoparts Tbk (“Astra Otoparts”), launched the GS Green Birthday: One Life Celebrated, One Tree Planted program.
The initiative forms part of the Company’s efforts to foster environmental awareness while encouraging employees to contribute to sustainability through simple yet meaningful actions.
In line with this year’s World Environment Day theme, #NowForClimate, GS Battery encourages all employees to take an active role in environmental stewardship. Through the GS Green Birthday program, every employee celebrating a birthday in June receives a tree seedling to plant as a symbol of environmental responsibility and a contribution toward a greener future.
The philosophy behind “One Life Celebrated, One Tree Planted” reflects the belief that every celebration can become an opportunity to create a positive impact on the environment. Through tree planting, GS Battery invites employees to participate in environmental conservation efforts that begin with simple and sustainable actions.
This year’s commemoration was made even more meaningful as it coincided with the birthday of Hirofumi Umetani, Vice President of GS Battery, who also received a tree seedling as part of the program. The symbolic handover was conducted together with Abun Gunawan, President Director of GS Battery, demonstrating the Company’s support for sustainability initiatives.
The GS Green Birthday program is aligned with the Astra Otoparts 2030 Sustainability Aspirations, particularly in promoting a more sustainable environment through the active participation of all employees. By directly engaging its workforce, GS Battery demonstrates that meaningful contributions to sustainability can begin with small actions carried out consistently over time.
