ASKI Launches Six Digital Medical Devices to Strengthen Healthcare Industry Self-Reliance

PT Astra Komponen Indonesia (ASKI), a subsidiary of PT Astra Otoparts Tbk (“Astra Otoparts”), launched six digitally enabled medical devices on 1 April 2026 at its headquarters in Bogor, reaffirming its commitment to supporting the self-reliance of Indonesia’s healthcare industry.

The newly introduced products include a 4D ultrasonography system, syringe pump, infusion pump, 12-channel electrocardiograph (ECG), and the GCU 4in1 and GCU 3in1 devices, both integrated with digital applications and artificial intelligence-based predictive analytics.

The launch is supported by ASKI’s research and development (R&D) capabilities and domestic manufacturing facilities. Through this initiative, ASKI not only expands its portfolio of locally produced medical devices but also promotes the adoption of domestically manufactured healthcare equipment, creates employment opportunities, and contributes to national economic growth.

Indonesia’s Minister of Health, Budi Gunadi Sadikin, expressed his appreciation for ASKI’s contribution to the medical device industry in supporting the resilience of the national healthcare system and generating employment opportunities.

“There are three key reasons why we encourage self-reliance in Indonesia’s medical device industry. First, we aim to provide high-quality and affordable medical devices for the public. Second, by strengthening domestic medical device production, we seek to ensure the resilience of the national healthcare system. Third, a self-reliant medical device industry can create jobs and contribute to national economic growth,” the Minister of Health said during the launch event.

“Through strengthening our R&D capabilities, developing domestic production facilities, and advancing technology-based medical devices, we are committed to delivering high-quality, competitive products that address the needs of Indonesia’s healthcare services. This initiative reflects our contribution to supporting the self-reliance of the national medical device industry. We believe that the stronger our domestic medical device industry becomes, the greater our ability to provide high-quality, equitable, and sustainable healthcare services for the community, thereby enhancing the resilience of Indonesia’s healthcare sector,” said Hamdhani Dzulkarnaen Salim, President Director of Astra Otoparts.

In addition to the product launch, the Minister of Health toured ASKI’s production facilities, R&D center, laboratories, and showroom. According to data from the Ministry of Health, the utilization of domestically produced medical devices increased from approximately 12% in 2019 to 48% in 2024, although imported products continue to dominate the market.

ASKI also collaborates with various partners, including PT Darya-Varia Laboratoria Tbk, in the development of the GCU 4in1 and GCU 3in1 devices to support the screening and early detection of non-communicable diseases. Both devices are designed to deliver more integrated and data-driven healthcare services.

Since diversifying into the medical device sector in 2020, ASKI has developed more than 30 types of medical devices, with local content levels ranging from 40% to 59%.

Through these efforts, ASKI reaffirms its role in supporting the development of an independent, innovative, and globally competitive national medical device industry while contributing to improved access to and quality of healthcare services across Indonesia.
