JAKARTA: , a braking system manufacturer and part of PT Astra Otoparts Tbk (Astra Otoparts), has obtained Indonesian National Standard (SNI) 9370:2025 certification for its ULTI X brand brake pads as of Tuesday (August 4).
During a ceremony held at Akebono's production facility, Hendro Kusumo, Deputy for Standards Implementation and Conformity Assessment of the National Standardization Agency of Indonesia (BSN), and I Nyoman Susila, President Director of TÜV Rheinland Indonesia, presented the SNI Mark Usage Approval Letter (SPPT-SNI) and Certificate of Conformity to Daniel Suryananta, Vice President Director of Akebono.
This achievement makes Akebono the first company in Indonesia to obtain certification based on the latest national standard for brake pads for two-wheelers and three-wheelers, while also establishing ULTI X brake pads as the first product to meet the standard.
In addition to obtaining SNI certification, Akebono is also developing a testing laboratory to support product assessment and testing processes in accordance with national standards. The facility is expected to strengthen Indonesia's standardization infrastructure while supporting the development of an increasingly competitive domestic automotive component industry.

SNI 9370:2025 is the latest national standard established by BSN in 2025, setting out technical requirements and testing methods for brake pads for Category L motor vehicles, namely two-wheelers and three-wheelers. As part of the certification process, ULTI X brake pads were tested against four key parameters: asbestos-free content, physical quality, shear strength, and friction performance, which are important aspects in ensuring the safety and reliability of braking systems.
The certification further strengthens ULTI X as one of Astra Otoparts' high-performance product lines, developed to address market demand for products that not only deliver high performance but also meet stringent quality and driving safety requirements.
