KARAWANG: PT Astra Otoparts’ WINTEQ Division, Astra Otoparts’ research and development division, is expanding its engineering capabilities into the Philippines through the delivery of several industrial machines and automation systems developed in Indonesia.
The initiative is part of WINTEQ’s efforts to strengthen its role as an engineering and manufacturing automation solutions provider in the regional market, following its previous support for industrial needs through machinery exports to Thailand and Vietnam.
The export includes several engineering solutions developed by WINTEQ, including Automation Machining Line, Automation Casting Line, and Special Purpose Machinery, which are being delivered to Astra Otoparts Philippines Inc. (“AOPP”), a subsidiary of Astra Otoparts that operates and develops its business in the Philippines.
The export was marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by WINTEQ Chief Operating Officer Fadli Hari Purnomo at the WINTEQ production facility in Karawang in late August 2026.
“This expansion is an important step for WINTEQ in extending our capabilities and business reach in automation and special purpose machinery across regional markets. The trust placed in us by AOPP motivates us to continuously enhance our engineering expertise and system integration capabilities, while delivering manufacturing automation solutions that provide added value to customers,” said Fadli Hari Purnomo.
Expanding Engineering Capabilities in Regional Markets
The first export to the Philippines marks another milestone in WINTEQ’s growing presence in regional markets. Previously, WINTEQ had exported precision grinding machines to Thailand and Vietnam. These experiences have strengthened WINTEQ’s capabilities in designing, integrating, and delivering manufacturing automation solutions tailored to industrial needs.
Accordingly, WINTEQ’s contribution to regional markets extends beyond being a machinery provider, encompassing engineering capabilities and system integration expertise developed in Indonesia to support manufacturing needs across various countries. Its experience in Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines serves as a foundation for further expanding WINTEQ’s range of services and solutions across Southeast Asia.
This is aligned with WINTEQ’s efforts to expand the utilization of automation technology and integrated manufacturing solutions across the Astra Group and external markets, both in Indonesia and the region.
Supporting Manufacturing Growth in the Philippines
Following its business expansion into the Philippines through AOPP, Astra Otoparts is also bringing manufacturing capabilities developed in Indonesia to support business development in the country. As Astra Otoparts’ business and production base in the Philippines continue to grow, the need for stronger engineering capabilities, automation, and manufacturing solutions is also increasing.
This development is in line with the growth of the Philippine automotive market, particularly the two-wheeler segment. According to data from the Motorcycle Development Program Participants Association Inc. (MDPPA), motorcycle sales in the Philippines reached approximately 939,528 units through June 2026, an increase of around 3.58% compared with the same period last year. From 2020 to 2025, the Philippine two-wheeler market also recorded average annual growth of approximately 7.5%.
This market growth is creating opportunities to enhance manufacturing capacity, efficiency, and automation in the Philippine automotive industry. In this context, WINTEQ brings engineering, automation, and system integration capabilities developed in Indonesia to support the manufacturing needs and continued development of Astra Otoparts’ production base in the Philippines.
